Asher Fradi

Asher Fradi (40), a resident of Petah Tikva, married and a father of five, is a public figure and social entrepreneur, holds a law degree, and owns a consulting firm. He grew up in a Charedi home in Bnei Brak and was educated in Charedi institutions and yeshivos.

In 2007 he enlisted in the IDF and served in Central Command, where he founded the army’s first Charedi integration section and headed it. For more than a decade he worked to advance meaningful service for Charedim: he supported and developed existing Charedi service tracks, worked to establish new ones while safeguarding the Charedi way of life, and helped establish the Hashmonaim Brigade and shape General Staff orders tailored to Charedi soldiers.

Alongside this, he negotiated with the IDF and the Ministry of Defense over the conditions of service for Charedim, the service tracks, and the General Staff orders that apply to them. He also worked to promote spiritual support for soldiers and to establish Charedi hesder yeshivos.

In 2013 he was among the founders of the “Beit Abba” community in Petah Tikva, which became a model for communities of working Charedim. Building on that work, he helped establish a full sequence of educational institutions for this community, beginning with the municipality’s state-Charedi kindergartens, which today number in the dozens across the city. In 2021 and 2022, with the support of Mayor Rami Greenberg, he helped open the “Bereishit Banot” girls’ school and the “Bereishit” Talmud Torah, and worked toward opening a Charedi high school for girls combining Torah education with core studies and full matriculation.

He currently serves as an adviser to the Mayor of Petah Tikva, responsible for communities and state-stream educational institutions. Over the years he has worked to strengthen working Charedim and to create solutions in the areas of service, education, community, and livelihood.
